This record documents his first project with Scottish saxophonist Raymond MacDonald. The duo creates highly textured and intimate soundscapes, at times strongly melodic, with a dark lopsided narrative. 'Lin' translated from Swedish means 'flax' and 'flax' in Swedish means 'luck'. While luck may have played a part when Stackenäs and MacDonald first met in January 2009 in the Glenn Miller Café in Stockholm, the rapport that developed on their first duo tour, culminating in this recording, is born out of a mutual relish of the spontaneous collaborative encounter. Both players embrace the way that these encounters can lead to new insights and artistic developments and this recording showcases these vital elements.

CDR 100 copies

Autumn

Some new and forthcoming things:

Never Come Ashore is a new download label / blog set up by Nick Fells and Neil Davidson. It was already clear that there were intriguing overlaps in outlook, approach and background. Susan’s career in perfectly normal country bands and George’s in inoffensive folk and jazz bands has led both players by long circuitous routes to a radical deconstruction of standard guitar techniques largely growing out of the inextricable mixture of exasperation and profound respect they both feel for the musics that continue to nurture them.

Psykick Dancehall Event

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 230px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_sZggyZambcU/S21JA_sg9ZI/AAAAAAAAAC8/nYdvgf1VpC0/s320/Psykick_flyer.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435080606753027474" />

Iorram recommends a fine concert presented by Psykick Dancehall including the wonderful Iorram recording artists Helhesten:

Part Wild Horses Mane On Both Sides
Wire magazine favorites, alchemical flutes and drums duo from Manchester.

Bad Orb
Concrete sound debris from Brighton. In this production devised from John's memories and experiences he opens his diary, asks questions and invites invisible guests to the show. Pirate Radio is a flashback, a journey, an attempt at mapping memories and of putting an audience face-to-face with the past and future.
